Bay County, Fla:
A Bay County church is helping Hurricane Ike victims hundreds of miles away. Northstar Church is collecting items for hurricane victims and has opened its collection to the public. Items needed include:
-Breakfast cereals
-canned beans
-dry beans
-canned fruits
-peanut butter
-jelly
-rice
-snacks
-baby formula
-baby cereal (dry)
-baby wipes
-diaper rash cream
-diapers (especially size 4)
-personal care items (such as deodorant, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste or soap)
They are ‘not’ collecting clothes.
Members of the church will drive the donations to Texas on Sunday. Pastor Roy Mansfield says the effort is about showing your generosity to others in need.
“I think generosity helps everybody especially the people who get the opportunity to be generous,” Mansfield says. “So that’s what we’d like just anybody in the community, we all see the picture of people in need and anybody who has the opportunity to give any of the items would help.”
All donations can be dropped off at the administration office located at 2379 St. Andrews Bvld. They will be collecting items through October 5.
